  2. Here's the word from a MTBR forum member, posted today:

I just got back from riding Picture Rock (11am start). Miles 2 and 3 remain quite vulnerable. There are still many sections that are in the shadows... still frozen and a mess waiting to happen. I was smearing and making a mess of the trail and my bike. I turned around

The lower part of Picture Rock has yet to thaw and dry out, and until we get a chinook to dry out the place, I think the Lyons approach is going to be sketchy on warmer days. I spoke with a couple of others on the trail and heard that above the quarry, there was no moisture at all.

Remember to tread lightly on days like these... it's hard on the trail and your bike as well.

I wish I had started on the Left Hand side

  3. Nicely snowpacked today around noon. I only had time to ride up the picnic table but it looked good from what I could see higher up too.

  4. via Dave @ Redstone Cyclery: "Mike from Boulder County Open Space just stopped in. He asked me to pass along some info. Picture Rock is really muddy and snowy right now. The county is wavering on whether or not to officially close the trail until better conditions prevail. Whether they close it or not, please refrain from riding Picture Rock over the next handful of days. It's going to be a while. thanks!"

  5. Closed by BCOS because of mud.

  6. From a friend: Upper third of Picture Rock is totally dry, but you have to access it from Wapita (Left Hand Canyon). Bottom 2/3 of trail is too muddy to ride. Please let it dry out!

  7. From Redstone Cyclery (Lyons):
Hall and Heil are all good to go. You'll definitely see mud, but you won't do any trail wreckin' so long as you ride thru and not around.

Is it dry, some puddles, wet & muddy, or snowy? Let us know if we can ride, or if riding would damage the trail.
